“You do art? But you’re a math teacher!” is a common response when people in my professional world find out that my first love was art.

It’s only been recently however, that I began to do something a little more serious with my art. I credit this new commitment of making jewelry to my mom and sister. Growing up, I was fascinated watching my mom turn her doodles into spectacular pieces of jewelry. As I got older, I too found inspiration in my doodles to make jewelry. It was my sister that suggested I start selling my work.

Combining beautiful glass and semi-precious stone beads with twisted, swirly, intertwined wire, my necklaces are more wearable sculptures than jewelry. Each piece is unique and a surprise, even to me! I never know what I’m going to make until it’s done. I start with a bead that I’m drawn to and a squiggle of wire, creating small puzzle pieces, often turning these little clusters of beads and twisted wire over and around until it looks and feels right. I keep adding and connecting more clusters to create unique, one of a kind statement pieces-wearable art!

So, here I am, loving every minute of this lifelong hobby that I can now share with others!
